Regather will soon own its building

Regather co-operative has secured £250,000 enabling the purchase of their building in Sharrow, from which they run a veg box scheme, kitchen facilities, events, and various community food/growing activities. A funding bid was made to the Community Ownership Fund in Spring 2024, with the support of over a thousand local community members. The General Election got in the way, but finally they heard the application was successful at the end of the year.

Rachel Boyce of Regather described their Club Garden Road premises as a “… building that has been at the heart of our operations for the past decade. This funding will help solidify the future of Regather’s community-based initiatives in Sheffield, ensuring the building’s continued use and preservation as a space for local collaboration, sustainability, and creativity …. We are absolutely delighted to have received this funding. It is a testament to the strength of the Sheffield community and the power of collective action. This funding will not only secure the future of our building but also reinforce Regather’s role as a community anchor in Sheffield, providing a permanent space for local activities and initiatives that promote sustainability, creativity, and social justice … a massive thank you to everyone that has supported us to get to this point.”

Regather hopes the building may be purchased by March, so expect some celebrations at the 2025 AGM in April.
