Local group in solidarity with the democratic social progress taking place in Venezuela, struggling against hostile media and a powerful capitalist opposition aided by the USA (including an attempted military coup in 2002). Meanwhile, direct democracy through grassroots community councils and increased social spending have made dramatic improvements in peoples’ lives, as Venezuela works with other Latin American countries to build an alternative to neo-liberalism.
