Credit unions are member-owned cooperatives for saving and borrowing. Much better than any bank for ethical savings and cheap loans. They are closely regulated by the government authorities for security, and they provide excellent benefits and services. Since 2016 SCU merged with Rothersave Credit Union, and membership is now open to all who live or work in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Derbyshire Dales, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover.
