2025 update: Share Instead started as a housing co-op in Sheffield in 2012. They had ten successful years in a Victorian terraced house, as members of the Radical Routes network.

Share Instead sold the house and joined forces with Five Rivers Cohousing to buy three new build eco-sensitive flats in Wisewood, North West Sheffield. Five members moved in with the other nineteen households to start building the community in March 2024. Among other things members do social work, anti-racist historical research, and peace activism. The community includes shared land, a Common House and a huge bike shed.
