Because a footpath across the railway line at Station Lane, Oughtibridge, has been blocked up, the only access to Wharncliffe Woods is via the railway bridge on Oughtibridge Lane. The bridge is dangerous and narrow, the approaches from both sides have blind corners, and cars drive too quickly.

There is an un-extinguished right of way at the location of the old crossing and this campaign is fighting for a new crossing across the railway.
