Food Works
Visit Food WorksThe Food Works runs Food Hubs in Sheffield, upcycling food to reduce waste, recovering hundreds of tons of unused food from businesses and producers. Chefs and volunteers cook and bake with zero waste to nourish people in the healthiest and most enjoyable way. Hot meals, barista coffees, cakes and pastries are available daily on a Pay-What-You-Can-Afford basis (minimum contribution of £1). Eat in their community space, or get a takeaway by bringing your own container or cup. There is even a meals collection service to pick up at a hub closest to your home.
They offer a Just Meals subscription of healthy “ready meals” starting from £1. These are environmentally-friendly frozen meals, made in Sheffield with quality surplus and locally grown ingredients, a great alternative to a conventional ready meal.
They also run a market at Food Works Handsworth where you can call in for a Market Box, 7 days a week and a limited number of daily Market Boxes are available at Food Works Sharrow too.
There is even a Food Works Farm, growing food together locally. They are converting unused plots of land into community growing spaces, working with local volunteers to produce food for their neighbourhoods and the city.
