Freedom Jazz Trio with Rosie Brown and Naadia Sheriff

Samuel Worth Chapel, General Cemetery, S11 8NT

A great a double bill: Sheffield singer-songwriter Rosie Brown with pianist and composer Naadia Sheriff and the Freedom Jazz Trio, and Errol Francis of Montuno on percussion. Modern jazz and Latin repertoires, making a strong connection between music and human rights, including Coltrane, ‘Mankunku’ Ngozi and Gato Barbieri.

The event will raise money for the charity SPaCE (Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange), which supports the welfare of Palestinian children and young people, in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including Gaza. Their projects work to improve the lives and mental health of young people and children – needed now even more than ever. These include Never Stop Dreaming and the Qayis Psychological and Community Support Centre which provide educational activities (with fun and games), a Mobile Library and psychological support. SPaCE has also recently funded a new project, by Vanguard Media in Gaza, to allow children to relate their own stories through video ‘junior journalism’.
