It's back! Let the love-sick and loved-up join together to poke a big stick of fun at the big commercial beast, with another weekend of music, poetry, comedy, competitions, real ales from Blue Bee Brewery, great cake and anti-valentines silliness as the Rude Shipyard presents its Anti-Valentines Festival. Free entry, with a donations box to be split between all performers.Friday 14th (normal opening in daytime.) From 6pm an evening of live music with Nick Maldini of Screaming Maldini, virtuoso folk guitarist Jim Ghedi playing with viola player Llewelyn, soulful singer song writer James Tait with his new band - Pomegranate the Fruit, Magpies and Woolly Mammoth.Saturday 15th a whole day of events; midday open mic poetry from a Shipping Forecast anti-valentines special, stand-up from Stan Skinny, the Cupids in Nooses anti-valentines poetry competition from Wordlife, (entries for the must be submitted to by Friday 7th February and the winner will be published in Now Then Magazine). Then a fantastic bill of live music from Red Trees, Leon O'Doherty, Jupiter in Jars, Over the Yardarm, Ruth Theodore, Captives on the Carousel, Five Leaves Nettles, Every Animal on Earth and The Purgatory Players.Sunday 16th from 5pm an evening of independent films from local film makers. 'Taking the Michael' by Ian Nesbitt, 'The Bounds of Habitation' by Rosie Etherington and two super shorts by Thomas Payton-Greene and Danielle
