Details The annual LaDIYFest festival has arrived! A DIY, anti-capitalist, community based, feminist festival run by volunteers, led primarily by women but all are welcome to get involved. It aims to highlight female and LGBTQ art, projects and activism in the community, promoting social change in a non-discriminatory environment. Workshop themes include: Women and Anti-Fascism Men and Feminism Organising Your Own Grassroots Events Sex Work Solidarity Racism and Sexism in Punk and DIY Culture Sound Engineering Getting Your Head Round the Lads Mags No More Page 3 Debates & more to be arranged The evening entertainment will be at the Red House, 168 Solly St. S1 4BB from 8pm Live shows from: The Ethical Debating Society; Awesome riot grrrl with boy/girl shouty times. "Uncool. Unconnected. Unconventionally attractive". Halo Halo; Three friends living in South London, writing a primal, hyper-melodic music that makes you want to dance into the mountains and throw a rope around the moon. Weird Menace; Fuzzy post-punk to make you wave your arms and wiggle your toes. "Stomach churning, yet playful" and all kinds of amazing. Not Right; Queer feminist raging about current political issues such as "TORY SCUM". The are angry in the right kind of way. "We are hatred, we are joy, we are noise for the sake of noise". followed by INVERT DJs to take over for some awesome queer mayhem on the dancefloor. Vegan food and refreshments for sale, plus zines, stalls, a quiet room and a supervised children's area. There are lots of details to be announced so keep checking the website. Visitors and volunteers are very welcome.
