Sheffield Chile Earthquake Appeal
April 2010
Sheffield has had a Chilean community at least since the days of the Pinochet dictatorship and they are now helping to support people affected by the massive earthquake and tsunami in Feb. Hundreds died and millions of homes and fishing boats were destroyed in a vast coastal area. Contacts and families in Chile tell of people living in makeshift shelters with a severe shortage of essentials as the southern winter approaches.
This appeal is asking for your help in form of money, aid and support that will be sent directly to Chile’s most affected areas to support emergency relief, rehabilitation and recovery activities. Working in conjunction with the Southampton-based Chile Relief Appeal they will be sending an aid container to Concepción in April, hopefully the first of many.
