New Boycott Group for Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign

A working group of people interested in the cultural boycott of Israel is now meeting in Sheffield. This is a very important aspect of the global movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel. The group is connected to an informal and rapidly growing cultural boycott network, all working to the principles laid down in the Palestinian Call for an Academic and Cultural boycott of Israel www.pacbi.org

Project ideas include (not all at once):

• Compiling a pledge of boycott by Sheffield artists, musicians, writers, journalists, filmmakers etc. encouraged by Ireland's recent completion of a pledge from around 150 names
• Lobbying musicians and other cultural workers who are scheduled to work in Israel
• Supporting the call for the banning of Israel from the Olympics in 2012
• Getting a boycott by the two Sheffield universities of Israel-financed and/or research projects
• Working towards the banning of Israel from the Eurovision Song Contest
