Sheffield Modern – Sounds of the Estates after-party

Join Sheffield Modern architecture weekender for a "Lates" party at Foodhall, the DIY volunteer-run community centre/cafe/venue. With DJs Ashley Holmes (Plenty Vibes, NTS) and Winston Hazel (former member of Forgemasters, the first act to be released on Warp Records).

8pm-midnight, £7 suggested donation on the door (nobody turned away for lack of funds). Bring your own drinks.

The party follows a talk: Sounds of the Estates, at Site Gallery Project Space at 7pm.
A panel discussion with speakers from Sheffield music community on the role of social housing estates in the local music scene, particularly in the 1990s. Speakers include Winston Hazel and Amy Carter, with moderator Auriel Majumdar.

Sentinel: Music and Climate Change

Thu 21 Nov 2019, 8-9.30pm, University of Sheffield Drama Studio, Shearwood Rd. S10 2TD

A show inspired by themes of climate change and forced migration, conceived and composed by Richard Evans. Sentinel is a call-to-action without words. The show is a multi-sensory journey through the present and future effects of global warming, creating a layered perspective on the planet’s most urgent issue. Soundtrack of analogue synths mixed with classical vocals, laser lighting, video and visuals created directly from climate and migrant data.

Tickets £13 Full price/£6 University of Sheffield students/£8 Concessions. All include a free after-show ‘In Conversation With’
